Interview

1. Where are you and your brand based out of?

Kreative Coaching is an independent clothing brand created by Savannah, Georgia natives Justin Cossey and Tevin Maxwell back in January of 2013.

2. How did you get started with your brand ?

We wanted to implement a line of clothing for the 90's babies. That era was a decade of true innovation. From baggy clothes, to funky hairstyles, and amazing music, it was just a great time, and we wanted to bring that nostalgia back through the fashion world. Our aim was to revamp themes from classic shows such as “In Living Color” and adding our personal spin to it. We just wanted to bring back that culture in a unique way, and so we began Kreative Coaching. With Kreative Coaching, we aspire to coach individuals how to be creative through our apparel; hence the name “Kreative Coaching.” It seemed the youth was so focused on having designer belts, and high priced clothing to adapt to a standard in which many celebrities reveal as “cool” or "in". So, we didn’t like what was happening around us and were challenged to do something about it. We thought, "Hey let’s start a clothing line (jokingly)." There was very little intention of making this go far, just something to do and the whole process was pretty fun, coming up with different designs and experimenting. But, little did we know people would soon gravitate towards our creation. From there, Kreative Coaching began, and we loved every minute of it.

3. How important is fashion to you?

Fashion is extremely important to us. We want people to feel like they are part of a great movement, you know, part of a winning team. When you wear items from Kreative Coaching, expect heads to turn, double takes, and questions about where you got your apparel from. We want people to feel exclusive when they wear our apparel, and that’s the most euphoric feeling that one could have. Fashion has the ability to let you showcase tyour kreativity and that’s the essence of this brand.

4. Who would you say is your FashionGod?

Justin Cossey “I would have to say Kanye West. Back in 2003 Yeezy had everyone rockin’ the pink polos and LV Backpacks. Since then, his influence has been phenomenal in the fashion world, as he's seen as somewhat of an icon.”

Tevin Maxwell “I love A$AP Rocky's free spirit. His rebellious attitude and urban gothic flare adds something special to his swagger. He isn’t afraid to push the envelope and go against the grain. This is the mark of a true trendsetter.”

5. What is next for you and your brand?

With our brand, we are making a very clear statement, and that is to be kreative. Take what you love (For us it was the 90's) and arrange it in your own unique way. Next up we plan to be in boutiques starting down south, and making our way up north. Only God knows where we will be in the future, and we pray that it is in our own store, near you. We have many projects we are currently working on, so be on the lookout!
